register the CD key with EA download manager and I believe you can download/run the game though that.

Because I believe I did the same thing awhile back either that or I bought another copy which I don't believe I did.

Did you already have it installed? The latest patch, 1.50, removes the disk check.

You can try steam, download and install from them, it's 7GB+ though

Well if you don't have time to get the Steam version or won't crack it, then just run to a nearby store and get a new drive quick.

Problem is, one of the Sata power plugs burnt on one chain so I am fearing the others will burn too. The other chain is in use so buying another drive is not an option. >.<

As of the 1.50 Patch, you no longer need to keep your CD/DVD in the drive when playing BF2.

Update: I contacted EA and they helped me out with this. They entitled BF2 as an EADM game so I am now able to download it and play. Much love to EA!

I have the latest patch which means I don't have to use the CD to play.

I am very surprised that you are not running the latest patch. It has been out for a very long time and has bug fixes and graphics updates.
